Hitachi was founded in 1910 by Nahimei Odairu.
Odairu was confident that the trademark would reflect the quality of the product and, thanks to it, the company would find consumers.
The world famous Hitachi concern is named after the town in which its history began.
The word "Hitachi" is translated from Japanese as "rising sun".
In 1968 the company starts to deal with construction equipment. Following the reorganization of the company's operations in Japan, the construction machinery division was reorganized into a separate company in 1970. At the same time, the company began producing crawler cranes.
In 1986, Hitachi began working with FIAT.
In 1986, the 1-st FIAT Hitachi excavator was delivered to a Dutch contractor.
In 1998 Hitachi and Euclid formed a partnership.
In 2001, the joint venture with Fiat ended in connection with the opening of FIAT Hitachi Excavators S.p.A (FHE), which was to complete the sale of all assets of a third company to CNH by 2002.
In 2001, a new training plant was opened to perform a number of tasks and carry out exhibition activities. HCME was supposed to assemble medium-sized equipment from 10 to 50 tons at a plant in Amsterdam.
In 2002 the company became a public company - Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV.
